Ord Mantell was a planet and was known as the Heart of Bright Jewel. It orbited the blue star Bright Jewel at the center of the Bright Jewel system. The planet was famous for its thick, outer cometary cloud and glowed with pinkish cast when it is viewed from space. It has ensured its place as the site of the Blockade Runners Derby for nearly hundred years. The planet is orbited by two large moons and thirteen other satellites. The cover of the cloud was tinged with pink when it was viewed from the planet’s surface. It has been a place of tourist center as there are natural wonders in this planet. Ord Mantell was the home world of the Mantellian Savrips and Mantellian flutter plumes. In Ord Mantell the mountains and islands are almost distinct. Every land mass is dotted with mountain chains.

The mountains and volcanic islands of Ord Mantell are cluttered with the wastes of a ruthless civil war. The planet’s government is loyal to the Republic and is a puppet regime for underworld concerns. The Corellian colonist’s settled in Ord Mantell some nine thousand years ago. The planet became a staging point for Republic military operations in the Outer Rim. Ord Mantell’s strategic value waned over the centuries and after the local fleet was sold off by a corrupt admiral, the military abandoned the planet. Ord Mantell became a harbour for smugglers, pirates and bounty hunters. The local government fell under the swing of the crime syndicates. Things changed after the Treaty of Coruscant after the war between the Republic and the Sith Empire. Many star systems withdrew from the Republic but the Ord Mantells corrupt governors decided to stay loyal.

The maraudhers began a hit-and-run war to drive the military off the planet and achieve independence. Since the last two years, the separatist attacks have ravaged the landscape and de-stabilized the corrupted government. Inspite of the difficult situation, Ord Mantell’s defences are being bolstered. The local government is bringing in potent black-market technologies from Nar Shaddaa and the Republic is spreading its most elite forces.

Ord Mantell’s continent of Worlport boasted a sprawl of cities along its southern. It is this part of Ord Mantell that many spacers regarded a safe port which was famous for casinos and for tourists. It gained an annual income of one billion annually. Other metropolitan areas lacked address markings and were not meant for outsiders. In the outside of urban sprawl there are narrow equatorial band of star sports and the volcanic islands, Ord Mantell remained largely rural and low. The planet was quite barren since it had extreme reliance on fossil fuels kept here. The huge robotic coal yards remained to fuel the planet’s cities and an immense junkyard littered a large part of the planet scape.
